- **An autobiography of sorts about Jacques Demy (Umbrellas Of Cherbourg) made by his wife Agnes Varda. It uses many of same techniques used by American Splendor, in fact it's much the same film. The film is cut into several pieces of his life, the ages which most influenced his films. A splendid film from a purely technical stand-point, interspersing takes from Demy's films and introspective snippets of an interview with an older Jacques along with the dramatized remembrances. The use of color and black & white can be rather shocking, sas can the editing. This is a filmed love letter so personal that it excluded me from any deeper context.

Cloned From:

What a fine year. There are five movies on here I could easily put on a "all-time favorites" list of 100 or so.
Hmm, lemme guess. Certainly "Raise the Red Lantern" and "Beauty and the Beast", and I'm gonna go with "Ju Dou" and "Truly, Madly, Deeply" too. I'm not sure about the last one, but I seem to recall that you really liked "La Femme Nikita." So I'm gonna guess that, but my 2nd guess for the 5th is "Terminator 2" because it's a great action movie. How did I do?
Well done! The 5th is actually L.A. Story, but Nikita and T2 are good guesses (actually, they're probably my 6th and 7th ranked from this list).
Ah. I didn't know you liked "L.A. Story" that much. God, I'm so stupid! :-)
I was going to commend your high placement of "Barton Fink" (my favorite Coen brothers movie doesn't get too much love 'round these parts, I don't think), but then I saw you also had it under Fortunately Haven't Seen. Well, which is it?
Just a typo. Here, I'll fix it.
Strangely enough, in case anyone's interested, My top 5 of the year would be 1. Heart Of Darkness, 2. City Of Hope, 3. 35 Up, 4. Raise The Red Lantern, 5. A Heart In Winter. Not actually one of my favorite years in cinema.

Aha! Point Break. A guilty pleasure of mine too. I especially like the scene in which one of the cops (I'm not sure it's Keanu Reeves, but it should be) gets his arse kicked by a naked lady. Make that a wet-from-the-shower naked lady.
Yes, the extended scene in which Anthony Keidis (singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers) shoots his own toe off. I'd have to say that as naked wet women go, she's pretty good. And yes it is Keanu (lucky man). But my favorite is the scene where Keanu, after 2 weeks of lessons, surfs 20 foot waves like a pro. Yep that's gonna happen. Which reminds me, Step Into Liquid is great.

Oops! Jim's gonna kick our arses for not using the spoiler cloak.
Is it possible to spoil Point Break? :-)
Good question. Also, if you explained the whole plot would people understand it anyway?
