I know that text games like these are still be developed. Has anyone played any good ones? Ones with reasonable logic, things that make sense?

Wow, I just found this list! I was an Infocom addict in elementary school. After untold hours, I finally solved Zork, which was a high point in my life up to that point! Zork II and III were easier, but still fun.

I also completed one of the mysteries and one of the science fictions, but I forget the names of those. My, I loved those text adventures!

I think Enchanter and Trinity were a little after my time. Was Enchanter Zorkish (I'm guessing from the name)?

I also would be curious if any good recent text adventures are out there.

Thanks for the memories; great list!

I don't think there are any commercial companies that produce these things any more, but there is a large group of people that write these games as hobbies. If you are interested, one site is:

Ha, I beat you to the punch this time! Your list inspired me to do a bit of searching, and I did finally dig up that site. I even downloaded an adventure I found somewhere online (Chamber of Secrets, I believe), but as I feared, I've hardly found much time to play it, especially with my wife's studies dominating our home computer!

Thanks!

I really love the games at www.rinkworks.com/adventure. They're text adventures, but they don't require typing. The options are displayed right there for you, and yet the games still manage to be difficult. I've tried some real text adventures before, but I could never get past a few annoying traits:

(1) Having to keep requesting the inventory whenever you want to see it
(2) Having to keep requesting to look around whenever you want to see what's in the room
(3) Having limits on the amount of stuff you can carry in your inventory
(4) Death that can't be easily repaired

The adventure games at Rinkworks correct all of these annoyances. I'd recommend them to anyone who likes text adventures.
