Oscar Stunners

Tags:
  • 11) Colleen Atwood - She proved you do not have to be a picture perfect celebrity to pull off the show with loads of style.

  • 10) Helena Bonham Carter - Ignore the critics, Helena always looks pretty good a bit trashy.

  • 9) Hilary Swank - Not the most beautiful woman, but one of the more stunning, and she wore a groovy dress to boot.

  • 8) Meryl Streep - One of Hollywood's oddest yet most enduring beauties. Besides, funny, intelligent women are very sexy, and she certainly scored in those categories.

  • 7) Michelle Williams - Another unique-looking actress finds a look that suits her quite well. She should always wear too much lipstick.

  • 6) Nicole Kidman - Boasting a classic look bordering on generic, when Nicole glams up her hair and makeup, she still leaves an impression.

  • 5) Selma Hayek - I'm not sure I've ever seen her look better. Has any woman ever made the art of sound mixing sound so naughty? Thank goodness she lost the bad bangs in favor of piles of glamorpuss hair. I'm usually not a fan of hers, but last night, she pulled it off.

  • 4) Keira Knightley - Not the typical beauty goddess, she looked great last night, and her delicious voice and sharp wit during the interviews only sprinkled spice on it all. It is very nice to see a woman get some respect in Hollywood without feeling the need to get implants. She doesn't need them. Still, she was even more radiant in Pride & Prejudice.

  • 3) Naomi Watts - The classic beauty, shining gloriously.

  • 2) Uma Thurman - She really only had to show up to get on this list. Hollywood's top exotic beauty once played Venus in one of the all-time wisest casting decisions. Wow.

  • 1) Ziyi Zhang - A beautiful, beautiful woman in the best dress of the evening. She passed over any lame attempt at classic blandness and went straight to striking and stunning, knocking my socks off in the process. She won't get the press she deserves, just like she didn't get the nomination she deserved (for 2046), but then Crash won last night, so who gives a rip? She is the winner.

  • Grand Loser - Rachel McAdams - I'm telling you, lose the blonde. It washes out all the lovely features dark hair highlights in your lovely face. That dress didn't help.

This could be subtitled, "Focus On the Positive."

I am a straight man and feel utterly unqualified to judge the men, so this list is women only.

I'd judging off the total impression here - dress, hair, makeup, talk, the whole deal.

Charlize Theron has obviously chosen the wrong dress, with all that flippery on her shoulder. I have no idea what that should have been...

Yes, she is a beautiful woman, but that get-up was not the most flattering for her.

I thought she was adorable all wacky and frumpy in Arrested Development earlier this year...

Shalom, y'all!

I'm in the minority here but Charlize is not a beautiful woman. She's an alien being that's cast a spell on the world through mind control and the help of her publicist saying how beautiful a woman she is. She's horribly unnatural and looks to sometimes be cut from stone as opposed to being made of flesh.

And oddly enough, she and Paul Haggis share agents...

Shalom, y'all!

That's a low blow. Paul Haggis will get better at writing though whereas Charlize will only get botox to look exactly the same when she's 60.

You are assuming much too much. When crappy screenwriters get rewarded for horrible work, they tend to get big heads and continue cranking out more of the same.

Charlize isn't my dream date or anything, but she certainly looks better than Crash reads.

And she can act, where Haggis can't direct.

Shalom, y'all!

I know she's not on your list (thank God), but I'm just wondering why in the hell Jessica Alba was actually invited to the Oscars. I don't get it.

The producers read an issue of Entertainment Weekly which hailed her as the next big thing. They looked at ratings estimates and hired her on the spot.

I'm not sure how they overlooked her work in Into the Blue, though.

Shalom, y'all!

I must confess, I thought Naomi Watts looked ridiculous last night. Totally agree that Ziyi Zhang and Uma looked gorgeous, though.

I'd probably be pretty bad at judging the men too, but I did think Larry McMurtry looked stupid and Ludacris looked pretty pimpin'.

Hey, Naomi Watts never looks ridiculous. : /

But the top "stunner" was definitely Dolly Parton...

Oh, and I think Clint Eastwood looked great...

uh, what?

Did you like Watts's dress? I thought it was a bit much.

Parton and Eastwood looked great considering their respective ages.

Did she wear a dress?

LOL. Touché. Okay, I'll admit Watts looked beautiful aside from the dress.

My gut reaction on both of the guys was the same as yours, but I thought Watts looked great.

Shalom, y'all!

I thought Bahar Soomekh, Michelle Williams, Terry Pheto and Ludacris looked good.

I agree, except that I was not that big on Soomekh's dress.

Shalom, y'all!
