I prefer Batman personally. The thing with superman is that there always has to be kryptonite in order for him to be overcome. Superman has far more strengths than weaknesses. Batman on the other hand has to deal with character flaws (especially the Bruce Wayne envisioned in Dark Knight) that make the character far more interesting to watch.
Most of Batman's powers come from the fact that he's rich. If you take away the gadgets then there's less there for sure. Batman's more interesting though, and the Dark Knight revealed some new things I didn't know. Has some cool villains as well, and doesn't have a kryptonite.
Anyone really wondering why Batman is better than Superman only needs reading The Authority... Their "ellised" versions as Midnighter and Apollo will let you know why heterosexuals will always side with Bruce Wayne... ah ah
(Out Of 5 Stars..)
Batman: The Movie (1960s) = *****
Batman (1989) = *****
Batman Returns = *****
Batman Forever = **** 1/2
Batman & Robin = 0
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm = *****
Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero = ** 1/2
Well i see it like this: in contrast to Batman and Robin..batman forever is a masterpiece! but seriously i do really like batman forever, it's kind of a childhood favourite.
The latest trailers for Batman Begins have me worried. The elements are gathered to make this the greatest action movie of all time, but the trailer footage makes it look like 'just another blockbuster' instead of a distinct auteur piece (that happens to have a killer cast and a $130 million budget) like Nolan's past work. It still looks to be an excellent film, but not quite a singular as I was hoping. How have other Listologists reacted to the latest trailers?
I'm looking forward to it more than any Batman sequel since Batman Returns. Nevertheless, despite a better director at the helm who'll be taking things seriously again, I think there's one reason in particular none of the sequels will come close to the first. The reason is that they keep changing the lead actor, like it doesn't matter who's behind the mask. Just as Spider-Man has been successful with Toby Maguire playing Peter Parker, or Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman, the Batman franchise needs a Bruce Wayne we can grow to like and sympathize with. Even James Bond didn't change actors every single movie.
I'm still looking forward to it a fair bit; my opinion hasn't changed, but then again I've harbored a kernel of doubt from the beginning (I just keep it buried deep and out of sight).

Wow, was Batman Forever that good? I remember that Batman & Robin was godawful, but it's been awhile since I saw the Clooney Batman.

Well, seeing as the only Batman film I've liked so far is The Mask Of Phantasm, I think Batman Begins is a sure-fire Batman favorite for me.
The Mask Of Phantasm is a personal favourite of mine.

he's cooler, he has mystery, he could kill you, superman wouldnt do that.
So what does everyone think? Why is Batman better than Superman or vice versa?
I dunno, I just prefer Batman in every way.
Batman by miles and miles and miles and..oh yes, miles.
