Simplify!

You may find the discussion occuring here interesting.

Also, good work on your Netflixfan blog! Top-notch! And, it updates more frequently than Hacking Netflix.

You're right, I did find that discussion interesting. Did you notice I endorsed you? On the pro-life and marriage issues, we agree.

Thank you for the kind remarks about my blog.

You're welcome :-)

And, thank you for the endorsement!

You seem to have an unpopularily high opinion of George W. Bush. Personally, I think he has made huge mistakes in the course of his presidency, and especially in the course of covering up those mistakes. I will say he is a great leader in that he is not afraid to make decisions, I just think he makes the wrong decisions too often. What do you like so much about George W. Bush?

I like that he's not a slave to opinion polls. He follows his conscience. Instead of being popular, he's getting down to the business of running the country. I don't know of any mistakes he's made. This country is much better off under him than it would have been under a Democrat in the same circumstances.

I'm not a Bush fan, but I do think you're partially right. He definitely isn't a slave to opinion polls. He sure didn't care when virtually every other country in the U.N. voted against him going into Iraq, and he boldly followed his conscience to expend hundreds of innocent American lives on a quest to find "weapons of mass destruction" that didn't exist. I would disagree with your last two sentences, but you could easily convince me that he's not worried about being popular and that he cares more about what he thinks he should do than what the opinion polls say.

Isn't the president supposed to be in the service of the public? Isn't he supposed to do what the people of the United States want? That's what I thought...

Yes. I wasn't saying that doing those things was good. I just said it was true.

ah

Hmmm, okay.

Well, personally, some very big mistakes he's made in my opinion include going to war with Iraq with little reason (as was only proved more true after the war), and especially keeping our troops in Iraq for so long.

Other things include gross mismanagement of our budget (lower taxes AND increase budget, WHILE we're 4 trillion in debt???? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!) and trying to cover up his mistakes by putting focus on silly things like Mars.

Actually, tax cuts and deficit spending during times of economic recession do have some historical precedent. They're part of the economic theory devised by John Maynard Keynes, a theory which FDR employed in the Depression.

One might say that Bush gave tax cuts to the wrong people, or that solving the national debt was more important than solving the recession, but that was actually something he wasn't totally off-base with, in my opinion.

Of course, if you want the reason for why we have such a bigass debt, blame another Republican president. If it weren't for Reagan's stupid economic theory, this never would've happened.

Not gonna do it. Not going to get sucked into a political discussion here on Listology. So I'll just make one brief non-partisan observation: everybody makes mistakes, so if you can't see *any* made by the most public figure in the world after four years, I don't think you're looking hard enough.

Well said. I can't think of any president who hasn't made a mistake.

Is the date for the next Academy Awards ceremony already announced?

OK. So, I'll have to leave once again at 1:00 a.m.!

You poor thing!

The Oscars are on February 27th? Isn't that even earlier than last year? And then, when do the nominations come in? January?

Just one day earlier. Nominations will be announced January 25.

Oh, hmmm. I thought last year the nominations were at the end of February and the awards were given out at the end of March, but I'll take your word for it.

You don't have to take my word for it. The info is posted at Oscars.org. They've moved it up, because other awards shows were stealing their spotlight.
