What's the big deal about The Departed -- do you think it's up to par with his older work such as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, et al? I like the director and cast in general, find it to be a fun flick; but it didn't resonate at all with me.
Yeah, I've read it. Masterpiece. The one I couldn't get through is Finnegans Wake, what a slog. One day I'll climb the mountain, but I don't see that happening soon. I don't think I'm mature enough to handle that shit quite yet. But Joyce was a hell of a writer, even when he was enigmatic (which was often) he never approached pomposity, I don't know how he struck that balance but damn, he was a one time kind of deal. I'm not saying he's my favorite writer or anything, but quite something. Complex and ambitious, there's a lot to chew on. I'd still rather watch a Tarr film, but I'm definitely biased towards movies and music.
Kanye laced the LIFE out of Let the Beat Build, absolutely ridiculous. Although sometimes I wish Wayne was just a little more coherent on that track, he could have really done the beat justice. But I guess his total lack of literacy is part of his allure.
What deranged person would even dream about cutting Shoot Me Down, Lollipop and Nothin' On Me (mainly for Fab's verse) and declare that Comfortable is one of the better tracks? It's worth mentioning I liked the whole thing, front to back.
Nooo, don't delete the lists. Just give them broader tags instead. For example, you could forget the years tag and just file your album rankings under Music. Basically, copy my format because I'm an unmitigated example of excellence.
